FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Guitarist JASON HOOK Explains Shoulder Surgery
August 21, 2015FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has been in the news a lot lately, both for the upcoming release of a new album and for singer Ivan Moody's recent domestic problems. But overlooked in all that was the fact that guitarist Jason Hook underwent shoulder surgery last week, no doubt to make sure he was in top shape for the band's fall tour. Hook told The Pulse Of Radio that the reason for the surgery itself wasn't especially sexy. "I had a little bone spur on the belly side of the top bone, and it created a small tear in what is called the labrum," he explained. "It was just irritating me. It was painful to sleep on that side. Fortunately, there's a very good shoulder and knee institute here in Vegas, and they were, like, 'Yeah, it's very common; no big deal. We go through a little incision, we clean it up and you're back on your feet that day; no big deal."
Hook added that he's already back in shape and ready for the group's fall co-headlining tour with PAPA ROACH, which begins on September 4 in Lexington, Kentucky, winding down on October 9 in Glen Falls, New York. Also on the trek will be IN THIS MOMENT and FROM ASHES TO NEW.
The band will be touring in support of its sixth studio album, "Got Your Six", which arrives on September 4 and follows up 2013's double album, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell".
The first single, called "Jekyll & Hyde", is currently No. 4 on the rock radio airplay chart.
Singer Ivan Moody has made headlines recently for being the subject of divorce papers filed by a woman named Holly Smith, who has accused Moody of infidelity and domestic abuse.
Although Moody has not commented publicly on the matter, his manager and guitarist Zoltan Bathory have both dismissed the woman's claims, with Bathory saying that Moody is not even married.
